The Chanel Reissue Bag, re-released in 2005 and originally designed by Coco Chanel in 1955, features a supple aged leather exterior, ornate chain hardware, and a mademoiselle turn lock closure to a spacious interior. It's a classic, glamorous and a historic closet staple!
Colour/Material: Black quilted aged calfskin leather. Hardware: gold tone.
The Reissue 2.55 is traditionally associated with aged calfskin (aged calf leather). Chanel intentionally gives this leather a slightly distressed, soft and vintage-looking appearance. It can have:
- A naturally crinkled or slightly wrinkled texture
- A softer, less perfectly smooth appearance
- Subtle variations in colour and texture
- A slightly worn-in, vintage feel, even when the bag is in excellent condition
- More visible natural creases compared with smooth or caviar leather
This is actually part of the design aesthetic of the Reissue - it is meant to reflect the character of the original 2.55 rather than look perfectly pristine and uniform.
